FAQ

Our web site has generated a great deal of interest from people who would like to publish with the Press. The following guidelines address the questions potential authors most often ask the editors about submitting new projects.

What Should You Send?

Before sending a proposal or manuscript, we suggest that you send an email or letter with a brief description of the project to inquire whether the topic is suited to Temple’s editorial program. Typically, editors respond to inquiries in about two weeks.

In the interest of reducing our reliance on paper, we urge potential authors to send their projects and accompanying materials in electronic form, either as attachments in one or several emails (depending on file size) or on a disk. Manuscript materials should be double-spaced. Please send only photocopies or low-resolution electronic files of art work; the Press cannot be responsible for one-of-a-kind materials.

A proposal should include a project overview, table of contents (with contributors' names, if appropriate), your c.v. or resume, and any available sample materials (e.g., abstracts, one or two draft chapters, previously published work on a related topic, copies of illustrations).

When submitting a full manuscript, you should include your c.v. or resume as well as a cover letter that tells us whether you are also submitting the project to other publishers.

Materials submitted by mail or courier will not be returned if they are not accompanied by an envelope and return postage.
