Temple University names Keith Morrison dean of its Tyler School of Art

   "Keith Morrison's accomplishments as an artist, curator, scholar and educational administrator make him the ideal person to lead Temple's Tyler School of Art as it prepares to relocate from the suburbs into a new, world-class, $75 million facility on our Main Campus in Philadelphia," said Temple President David Adamany. "We look forward to welcoming him to Temple."

More than 100 world-class neurologists and neurovirologists, including some 15 neurology department chairs, attended an international workshop on JC virus and Multiple Sclerosis in Shusterman Hall, June 3-4. Attendees discussed the potential risk of patients with MS for developing the fatal demyelinating disease Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML), including diagnostic and treatment strategies.  Above, Igor Koralnik, director of the HIV/Neurology Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Brookline, Mass., discusses the immunobiology of PML at the two-day workshop organized and hosted by Kamel Khalili, director of Temple's Center for Neurovirology and Cancer Biology.  The workshop was jointly sponsored by Temple and the Don C. Gnocchi Foundation in Milan, Italy.

Temple University names its first Associate Vice President of Multicultural Affairs
Rhonda L. Brown will become associate vice president of multicultural affairs effective July 5, 2005, reporting directly to Temple President David Adamany and Chief of Staff Gregory S. Rost. [more]
Rocci Pignoli retires as softball coach
Rocci Pignoli, who guided the Temple softball team to its only NCAA Tournament appearance, retired officially as the program’s head coach effective June 30, 2005. Pignoli, and his wife of 38 years, Cheryl, are planning to move to The Villages, Florida.
The 2004 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, Pignoli compiled a 175-208-1 record over his eight years at the Owls’ helm and a more impressive 75-53 mark in conference play. [more]
